What's the difference between JIC, ORFS, NPTF, and SAE flange fittings?
They are different hydraulic connection families and are not automatically interchangeable. JIC connections use a 37-degree flare sealing surface. ORFS connections use an O-ring on a flat face. NPTF is a tapered thread system in which the threads participate in the seal. SAE Code 61 and Code 62 are four-bolt flange systems used on larger hydraulic connections, with different dimensions and pressure capabilities.
Visual resemblance is not enough to select a replacement. Identification should consider thread diameter and pitch, sealing surface, seat angle, O-ring location, equipment documentation, and the hose and fitting manufacturers' specifications.
